Nicolai has had his eye on a Chinese calligraphy set in the store. It is just a little one, but it's perfect for him. I gave it to him for Valentine's Day/Chinese New Year today. He loves the ritual of filling the little bowl with water, grinding the ink, dipping the brush, and then attempting to copy one of the characters from the little instruction book. Writing is new and exciting for him and I want him to have tools that help him continue his excitement.

Lunar New Year, Day 284

Great idea! Chinese calligraphy is said to have a calming effect (never experienced that myself). The challenge would be to contain the mess...
