Ghost Town, Day 127

I am concerned about the little town I live in. Businesses are closing- small businesses AND large chain stores alike. One family that we are close to is moving away because there is no work here and their unemployment checks will be ending soon. My other neighbors just closed their cleaning business because they lost their major clients. Although Lafayette is still a wonderful place to live, I wonder how another year with this frightful economy will be change the feel of our little town.

Yellow, Day 79

I returned from California to an explosion of sunflowers in the front and backyard. I am always happy to see their smiling faces because it is a reminder that summer is here and to enjoy it because soon it will be over and the yard will be barren again. I am constantly being reminded to live in the present moment. I remind myself daily and I am still not getting the lesson. Any tips?

Daily Ritual, Day 28

My husband and I drink tea daily. I have already posted about his daily tea consumption. I joke about his life's purpose is to go from one cup to the next and how he gets there is somewhat inconsequential. Sitting down to have a cup requires us to take a break from the daily grind-this should happen more often then it actually does. Much of the time we drink while we work or read, but to simply just stop and focus on the hot liquid needs to be established into the routine. This is what I did this morning.

common object, common site, Day 6

My husband is a tea drinker. An obsessive tea drinker. So there are always 3-4 empty cups with tea bags around the house, especially on his desk. I am constantly harassing him about about it. But today I was grateful for the empty cup.

By Hand, Day 4

I have begun photographing everything...including the kitchen sink. This project is already teaching me to be much more present in the moment.

White Rectangles, Day 3

I went to bed thinking about white rectangles and I woke up thinking about white rectangles. Since I now sleep with a camera next to my bed it was an obvious place to begin photographing this morning.
